A character counter measures every keystroke — letters, numbers, spaces, punctuation. A word counter tracks how many words your text contains. Both matter when something external sets the boundary: a 280-character post on X (formerly Twitter), a 60-character page title, a 500-word scholarship essay, or a prompt you need to keep inside a token budget.

Beyond the raw counts, SnapLetterCount shows reading time, speaking time, page estimates, sentence and paragraph structure, keyword usage, a readability score, and estimated AI tokens. These are editorial signals — they tell you how your text is built and where it will and will not fit, not how a search engine will rank it.

Everything runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared — which makes the workspace safe for confidential documents, academic work, and unpublished drafts. Drafts you keep are saved locally on your own device only.

Characters count every code point you type, including spaces and punctuation; a separate figure excludes spaces. Words are whitespace-separated tokens. Sentences are split on terminal punctuation, with common abbreviations handled as exceptions. Reading time uses 238 words per minute and speaking time 130 words per minute, both adjustable assumptions rather than exact measurements. Page counts follow standard manuscript formatting. AI token figures on this page are estimates; the prompt workspace runs the real tokenizers for model-specific counts.
